Key Operational Benefits
Simple and Reliable Mechanical Design
Blow-out type extractors have no gear-driven agitator or mechanical discharge system inside the extractor for meal discharge. The limited number of moving mechanical parts simplifies the mechanical design, reduces maintenance points and makes the plant easier to operate.
Fast Meal Discharge
Once extraction and hexane removal are complete, the meal in the extractor is discharged quickly using the steam pressure generated. Particularly in plants where batch cycles follow one another, fast discharge can help shorten the time needed to prepare the extractor for the next production cycle.
An Economical Design in Terms of Initial Investment
As there is no agitator, high-torque gearbox or related mechanical drive elements, the extractor can be built with a simpler mechanical structure. Depending on plant capacity and project conditions, this can make it a batch extraction solution with an advantageous initial investment cost.
Batch Process Flexibility
Since each extraction cycle is carried out as a separate batch, hexane quantity, number of washes, extraction time, temperature and desolventizing time can be adjusted to the properties of the raw material. This allows process recipes to be created for varying raw material conditions.
Processing Different Oil-Bearing Raw Materials
With a suitable plant and process configuration, sunflower, rapeseed, olive pomace and other oil-bearing raw materials suitable for extraction can be processed. When the raw material changes, process parameters can be readjusted to the oil content, moisture and physical properties of the product.
Effective Oil Recovery through Stepwise Washing
The batch extraction process can be configured so that the oil-bearing material passes through several hexane washing stages. Through stepwise washing and proper miscella management, the aim is to recover the oil remaining in the press cake and obtain meal with low residual oil.
Independent Operation of Extractors
In plants with several extractors, one of the key advantages of the batch design is that the extractors can be operated sequentially and in a controlled manner according to the process schedule. This provides flexibility in production planning and allows the operating schedule to be adapted to the plant's capacity needs.
Modular Design Suitable for Capacity Increases
If the plant layout and the capacity of auxiliary systems are designed accordingly, adding further batch extractors to the system can be considered in order to increase production capacity. This allows the investment to be built for the capacity initially required and expanded later as production needs grow.
Ease of Maintenance and Service
The absence of a complex mechanical discharge system inside the extractor eliminates maintenance on equipment such as agitator shafts, blades, bearings and high-torque drives. This offers advantages in terms of a simpler mechanical maintenance scope and fewer spare parts.
Suitable for Modernizing Existing Batch Plants
In existing blow-out batch extraction plants, modernization work aimed at improving plant performance can be carried out by renewing miscella circuits, solvent recovery systems, condensation, vacuum, automation, instrumentation and auxiliary process equipment.
