Crude Oil Production Plants

Oilseed Pressing Plant

We design and install pressing plants for the mechanical extraction of crude oil from prepared oilseeds. We carry out the technical selection and procurement of oil presses suited to the plant’s…

Mechanical pressing of oilseeds is one of the fundamental stages of crude oil production. Correct selection of the pressing system and correct process configuration have a direct effect on oil recovery, press capacity, energy consumption, residual oil in the press cake and the operating conditions of downstream processes.

Özmodern Makina designs oilseed pressing plants according to the raw material, the target capacity, the required press cake properties and whether the plant includes an extraction process downstream.

Technical selection of the press systems, process configuration, auxiliary equipment, installation and commissioning are managed by us together with our specialist partner companies and integrated into the plant's overall process. Key features such as the internal design of the presses, the compression characteristics and the worm system are also determined according to the properties of the oilseed and the targeted process results.

Single-Stage Pressing (Pre-Pressing)

Where the pressing unit is followed by an extraction plant, the system can generally be configured on the single-stage pressing principle.

The aim here is not to remove all the oil mechanically during pressing, but to separate a certain part of the oil by pressing while obtaining a press cake with a suitable structure and controlled oil content for extraction.

The press cake is then sent to the extraction unit, where the remaining oil is recovered by solvent extraction.

In this system, pressing and extraction are not treated independently but as an integrated process that delivers total oil recovery.

Double-Stage Pressing

Where an extraction plant is not desired, a double-stage pressing system can be applied. The press cake from the first pressing is taken to a second pressing stage to recover more of the remaining oil mechanically.

This process is an alternative solution particularly for companies that do not wish to invest in solvent extraction and prefer to produce entirely by mechanical pressing.

Double pressing yields a meal with lower residual oil than single pressing, while retaining a higher oil content than extraction meal. Depending on the company's target meal market and economic evaluation, this product structure can offer additional advantages.

The crude oil obtained from both pressing stages is directed to the filtration system.

Press Selection Specific to the Raw Material

Every oilseed differs in oil content, hull structure, fibre content, kernel properties and pressing behaviour. It is therefore not correct to select presses based solely on capacity in tons per day.

In addition to press type and capacity, the internal design, worm system, compression characteristics and operating conditions of the press are determined according to the oilseed to be processed and the target product properties.

This approach makes it possible to build pressing systems suited to the properties of different oilseeds, sunflower in particular.
