Batch Refinery Plant
We design and commission turnkey batch refinery plants that offer flexible operation, suitable for the processing of various vegetable oils and adaptable to varying production programmes. We design…
Batch refinery plants are refining systems in which the process stages are carried out in defined batches, used to improve the physical and chemical properties of crude vegetable oils and obtain refined oil suitable for consumption and further processing.
Özmodern Makina designs batch refinery plants according to the properties of the crude oil, plant capacity, target end-product quality and the production requirements of the company; it designs and manufactures the required machinery and process equipment and carries out installation and commissioning.
Thanks to the batch operating principle, process parameters can be adjusted individually for each production batch. This gives the plant significant flexibility, particularly for processing different crude oils in the same plant, adapting to variable raw material properties and changing production recipes when needed.

Key Operational Benefits
Flexibility to Process Different Vegetable Oils
With suitable process arrangements, the batch principle allows the same plant to process sunflower, soybean, rapeseed, corn, cottonseed, hazelnut and other vegetable oils suitable for refining. When the product changes, temperature, chemical dosing, vacuum, holding time and other process parameters can be readjusted to the properties of the oil.
Adaptation to Variable Crude Oil Quality
The FFA, phosphorus, colour, moisture, wax and other quality parameters of crude oil can vary with the raw material and production conditions. Since each batch can be evaluated separately in a batch system, process parameters can be set according to the analysis results of the incoming oil.
Separate Control of Process Parameters
Temperature, time, chemical dosing, mixing, vacuum and other process conditions can be controlled for each batch as required, giving the operator the flexibility to manage production according to product properties.
Production Suited to Product Changeovers
In plants that need to switch between different oils or product specifications, batch systems offer high operational flexibility for changing the production schedule — especially important for companies that want to produce without being tied to a single type of oil.
Capacity-Specific Engineering
Reactors, crystallizers, deodorizers, filters, heat exchangers, tanks, pumps, vacuum systems and other process equipment are sized according to the target daily capacity and operating schedule. Instead of a standard system, a plant configuration matched to the company's actual production needs is created.
Automation and Process Control
Temperature, level, vacuum, mixing, pump transfers and the required process steps can be included in the control system according to the plant's level of automation. This supports repeatable production conditions, less operator intervention and easier process monitoring.
Design for Energy Efficiency
Economizers and heat exchangers providing heat recovery between oil streams at different temperatures can be used in the refining process. With a suitable process design, the aim is to reduce steam, cooling water and refrigeration consumption, lowering the plant's total operating costs.
- A complete process approach: A batch refinery is treated not as a system of reactors alone, but as an integrated production plant working together with process tanks, heat exchangers, filters, crystallizers, deodorizer, vacuum system, pumps, piping, instrumentation, electrical and automation systems.
